HEREFORD FANS GO TO WEMBLEY (AGAIN)

We know full well at Edgar Street what can happen to a football club. This is how we got to the HFC set-up. It is a remarkable achievement to get the fans’ voices now heard at the highest level in the land. A case demonstrated when sports minister, Stephanie Peacock MP made the opening address to the FSA’s AGM at Wembley.

Hereford fans were there again. Richard Tomkins represented HUST and KD Rai represented the London Bulls. Both HUST and London Bulls were amongst over 200 supporter organisation signatories that encouraged all political parties ahead of the General Election to continue the drive on the Football Governance Bill. We must be realistic here. It is not a Nirvana and would only apply to the top 5 tiers of English Football – Premier down to National League (Premier Division). National North and South are outside the boundary, but clearly any prospective club out for promotion needs to be prepared.

At the FSA AGM, Tom Greatrex became the new Chairman, following stalwart years of service by Malcolm Clarke. Motions presented and carried concerned:

  • Strengthening women’s voice in the men’s game
  • Ensuring the sporting integrity of the game
  • Improving VAR in stadiums
  • Making parents and young children welcome at the match
  • Addressing the cost of football tickets
  • Opposing domestic football matches being played overseas
